Concept Description

At times the computer is the way in which we travel in the cyber world and at times it is the portal into the cyber world.  With children these distinctions act on a subconscious level.  The computer is in some way the older male figure (father figure) guiding through the terrain of cyberspace.  At other times, when the computer is the extension of the child, there is a great vulnerability to being out there in cyberspace alone.  Essentially the computer oscillates between these two roles and as a result a large amount of gray area develops.  We as adults place both a trust and a fear in the computer in relation to a child.  It is both an educator and a predator.
