Guardians of Rivers

Guardians of Rivers at Casabianca, Bologna, Italy. Curated by Darth
Animated narrative text, Flag colored with Paprika, bench

Putting into practice an aesthetics of hope, the work builds on the theme of unyielding desire for community and the constant renewal of its potential.

When the Hungarian Israeli anarcho-pacifist Toma Sik set out to form his ideal community he did not expect it to be his last work.

The river that runs alongside Casabianca has been there for maybe  hundreds of years but not one community has experienced the same river twice.

If rivers sustain communities, and Toma Sik believed that his desire could sustain a community, what sustains us as artists as a community
