“Once I, Chuang Tzu, dreamed I was a butterfly and was happy as a butterfly. I was conscious that I was quite pleased with myself, but I did not know that I was Tzu. Suddenly I awoke, and there was I, visibly Tzu. I do not know whether it was Tzu dreaming that he was a butterfly or the butterfly dreaming that he was Tzu.”

Animal I Am is a collection of animal dreams, collecting people’s dreams in which animals appear toward creating a collective animal unconscious.

We asked a few arbiters of culture (a philosopher, a writer, and a curator to date) to reflect on living with animal, not animal in a personal sense, but animal as concept. As catalyst we gave each of them a stuffed animal and a card with the corresponding animal-named yoga pose. We asked them to live with these two suggestions of animal and report back to us. Below is our philosopher with camel.
